More Food Trends

So red velvet cake has definitely been at the top of our forks for the last six months or so, but any kind of completely old-skool cake is on the money: lemon ice box is on that list, as is the one with chocolate wafers and whipped cream shaped into a long, cakey snake. Oh, and go ahead and add Bundt cakes to that list as well.

A New Cookbook in the Works

Have I told you lately that you're looking well? Is that a new shirt? Have you been working out?

Have I also told you that I'm working my tushy off on the follow-up to Jam It? Title still TBD, but it's looking like something like Can It, Bottle It, Smoke It And Other Cooking Projects. Some projects to look forward to: Celery Soda, Tofu, Corn Dogs (and Hot Dogs), Cheese Doodles, Bagels, etc.

I Heart Food Trendz

Some people play fantasy baseball. Other folks read gossip mags until they gag. The hobby that my s.o. and I enjoy on long car trips? Predicting waves of culinary food trends. Aforementioned s.o. suggested that I start blogging about some of this stuff, so here goes:

- KFC hit it right out of the park. Why use bread when donuts, fried chicken slabs, or waffles will do? Any kind of sandwich made from anything other than boring ol' bread is officially "in".

Seeing my new book is terrifying....

I'm not kidding. I got a little sick to my stomach. Perhaps some of the recipes should just have Xanax mixed right in?

Jam It, Pickle It, Cure It is available, somewhere, somehow, in print. I'm just the author. No one tells me anything. However, last night at about 8pm my most fave UPS delivery person landed a fully finished copy into my grubby mitts.

Twitter-evangalista...

OK,so, like any good twelve-stepper with a problem, I have a confession to make: I am completely addicted to Twitter.

I would never in a billion years call myself an early adopter; but then again, I'm not easily daunted by setting the clock on the microwave, either. But Twitter is my newest. latest, and greatest raison d'tech. It reminds me of the unchartered landscape that the Internet was to me back in 1993.

Lately I've been blogging about feeding my kid on Facebook. I dunno why I've moved my musings over to the social networking side. Maybe because there I have a captive audience? :>

Anyhoo, if you're interested, you can find them here.

Care to review my book?

If you'd like to consider a future review of my cook book, out in the spring, drop me an email - ks at ksolomon.com.

The year in winding down work-wise, but the wheels of publicity are in gear. Looks like I'll be at the Ferry Bldg. in the fall, with other gigs in the works. Keep ya posted...

I'm a Food Crush!

Most writers toil away in utter obscurity, the sole, lonely individual alone at the keyboard, stepping up to the microphone of life and asking, "Testing, testing, is this thing on?"

And every once in a while, we're handed a lovely springtime bouquet from the blogosphere. Some kind fellows over at Bay Area Food Blog were kind enough to call me their Food Crush of the Month. Here's what they had to say:
