Yes indeed! Have you ever whipped whipped cream for too long and it gets lumpy? That’s because you’re making butter…the only diff in using a stand mixer is that the butter will be in little chunks and you’ll have to scoop them all into a ball. I highly recommend continuing to shake it in a jar and rinsing/shaking with water in a jar, as this will get out the buttermilk more efficiently, helping the butter to last longer. Good luck!
